Tom Selleck as Private Detective Thomas Magnum
Storyline
One day T.C. receives a call of a friend who saved his life during the Vietnam War and is now asking for help. Joey is involved in various drug deals and, being a wanted deserter, no longer lives in the United States. He asks T.C. to smuggle him by helicopter and return him to his homeland. T.C. knows about Joey’s past and nevertheless unhesitatingly agrees to fulfil his request, although well aware that this action could be very dangerous.
While approaching the island of Oahu, T.C.’s helicopter unfortunately becomes targeted by the Coast Guard. Joey barely manages to escape before T.C. is arrested. While in jail, he does not want to tell his friend, Magnum, anything about the circumstances, even he knows that he would help him. T.C. however, has no idea that Joey's appeal was far more than just a return to the United States. Rather, it was about the execution of another illegal transaction, and T.C. seemed to be ideal for it.
Magnum begins his investigation and tried to discharge his friend of the allegations made against him.
