The Bielefeld Conspiracy

First Broadcast: 18.02.2012 on ZDF

adapted from the novel of the same name by Jurgen Kehrer

Leonard Lansink as Detective Wilsberg

Storyline

Nils Erdel is firmly convinced that Bielefeld does not even exist. In his opinion and that of the other conspiracy theorists, Bielefeld is not a town, but a restricted area which was established in order to carry out experiments on humans and keeping state secrets.

He annoys private investigator Georg Wilsberg with his ideas, who at some point becomes so fed up that he does not even want to listen to Nils anymore. Nils, who is firmly convinced that he has already got himself deep into the Bielefeld conspiracy, feels threatened by their managers. Since Wilsberg does not want to listen to him anymore, Nils approaches Ekki and shares his worries with him.

When Nils dies shortly after on the street, Ekki becomes convinced of the correctness of the Bielefeld Conspiracy and private Wilsberg has a guilty conscience because he did not trust Nils beliefs.

At this time there is a break in Manni Hoch’s office in Bielefeld. Manni chased the masked burglars, who had just written a note. Thereby, the pen was pushed during writing through the letter on the next page, so that the name and address of Niels Erdel from Munster was readable.

Manni, who is afterwards sent in compulsory vacation by his boss, who does not believe in the burglary, decides to visit his old friend Wilsberg in Munster, in order to clarify the unfortunate events.

Ekki, now almost a convinced conspiracy theorist, feels uncomfortable in Manni’s presence. It is clear to him that Manni is not incidentally in Munster, and that Manni is a member of the Bielefeld Conspiracy, which is why he was sent there.

Ekki keeps his conviction regarding the Bielefeld Conspiracy naturally not for himself, but approaches Overbeck, assistant to Inspector Anna Springer, who led Nils Erdel’s autopsy, which proved that he was indeed murdered.

A rapid investigation takes its course in the search for the perpetrators and the instigators of the Bielefeld Conspiracy.
