Gourmet Steele

Pierce Brosnan as Remington Steele

Stephanie Zimbalist as Private Detective Laura Holt

Storyline

Dick L'Orange, a restaurant critic feared by gastronomers for his sharp tongue, has disappeared without a trace.

Since his editor, Phyllis Lewis, cannot achieve her star critic and has also has never met him in person, she turns to private detectives Remington Steele and Laura Holt.

As commissioned by Lewis, they should perform the necessary investigations and find L’Orange for her. First of all, the private investigators manage to gain access Dick L'Orange’s post office box. Shortly after they are attacked by two men and it is only after a breakneck chase that they manage to take them down.

As part of their investigation, Steele and Holt find out that Dick L'Orange is only a pseudonym used by an older lady to write restaurant reviews. As she had been murdered, Remington Steele takes on the role of Dick L'Orange and learns that chef Pierre has been bribing L'Orange for positive criticism.

This bribe had not led to the desired result. Further investigations lead the two investigators to the conclusion that a previously unknown third person has been passing himself on under the pseudonym of Dick L'Orange in order to cash in on these bribes.

No wonder, then, that the amounts paid did not lead to a positive criticism.
