A Pocketful of Steele

Pierce Brosnan as Remington Steele

Stephanie Zimbalist as Private Detective Laura Holt

Storyline

Besides his job at a bank, a clerk has also a very lucrative activity on the side. He belongs to an illegal organization where loan sharks provide their customers with credit for exorbitant interest rates.

Private detectives Remington Steele and Laura Holt are commissioned to carry out an investigation into this matter after Swimmers’ debt collector was murdered recently. The private detectives manage to obtain evidence in the form of some photographs depicting Swimmers’ activities.

Before they submit the proof images, however, Steele becomes the victim of pickpocketing. The youthful Jackie Crawford steals his wallet, in which there are the images that the two private investigators need as evidence to be able to close the case.

Before Remington Steele manages to retrieve the images, Crawford is arrested. Steele saw Crawford after his release, noting that he was seeking contact with Quentin Swimmer. Crawford apparently intended to rehabilitate himself financially by blackmailing Swimmers.

The case seems lost, but on the same day Quentin Swimmer is murdered, which brings Remington and Laura to the idea that Swimmer was not the mastermind behind this illegal business after all. Since Swimmer is now dead, the two investigators are convinced that Crawford should also fear for his life.
